In 2017, David Brown was presented a Governor General’s Innovation Award for founding the MyCodev Group, whose purpose is to resolve the lack of supply of chitosan (a ingredient that is essential in a wide variety of medical devices) in the pharmaceutical market. MyCodev discovered how to produce chitosan directly from an ecological and fungal fermentation, by using very little energy or chemicals.
Additionally, Mr. Brown serves as the co-founder and COO of Chinova Bioworks, a leader in the field of preservation innovation for the food and beverage industry that addresses the growing consumer demand for healthy, natural, and clean-label ingredients.
On August 7, 2018 in Fredericton, NB and Chinova announced the close of a seed round for investments and captured the interested of many major food-tech venture capitalists. With these investments, Chinova expects to scale their production rapidly to make sure Canadians have access to safe and healthy food without hindering quality.
