About the Innovation

Growcer’s modular vertical farms redefine food access by using 95% less water, no pesticides, and no farmland to grow fresh food year‑round in harsh conditions. Since 2016, more than 120 farms in Canada and 1,000 globally have produced over 75 million servings, feeding up to 110 people daily. Growcer advances food sovereignty, strengthens climate resilience, and enhances global leadership in sustainable agri‑tech.

About the Innovator

Founded in 2016, Growcer is on a mission to democratize food access and empower all communities to provide fresh, nutritious food locally. With 10+ million Canadians experiencing food insecurity, Growcer is at the forefront of creating resilient, sustainable food systems. As a Canadian agri-tech innovator, Growcer designs and deploys self-contained, modular systems to grow and store local food. This innovative, scalable infrastructure can produce fresh food anywhere, in any season — withstanding extreme conditions from Arctic cold to desert heat, making them viable in environments where conventional farming is impossible. Each containerized farm operates as a complete growing ecosystem requiring no agricultural land, minimal water, and no chemical pesticides. Using 95% less water than traditional farms, these plug and-play systems grow 150+ types of herbs and leafy greens and together, their network is now able to feed about 500,000 people around the world every single day. With 120+ installations in Canada and 1,000+ globally across 30 countries, Growcer exemplifies how Canadian innovation can lead global transformation. From Indigenous nations asserting food sovereignty to schools, hospitals, and non-profits building community resilience, Growcer is redefining local food, one meal at a time.
