First Winners of Governor General’s Innovation Awards
OTTAWA—The Office of the Secretary to the Governor General is pleased to announce the inaugural winners of the Governor General’s
2016 Governor General’s Innovation Award laureate, Charles Deguire is the CEO and co-founder of Kinova has recently partnered with McGill University to foster innovation in robotics technology.
Kinova designs and manufactures simple and safe robotics platforms for a broad range of applications. The company helps people push beyond their physical limitations and offers a more efficient and safer work environment in industrial settings as their robotic arms are energy-efficient robotic arms are lightweight, quiet, unobtrusive, and weather-resistant.
In May 2018, Kinova and McGill University announced that they came together to with an agreement that aims to foster productive research to increase the cycle of innovation. KINOVA will partner with McGill’s Faculty of Medicine at the Steinberg Centre for Simulation and Interactive Learning, and with the Faculties of Engineering and Science’s joint Centre for Intelligent Machines (CIM).
